I can’t even say how great this place is, as soon as you sit you get a warm towel and warm complementary tea, so clean and beautiful, food is amazing, so soft and not oily meat, the whole set was so delicious, and the waiters are amazing,we had the best lunch in Tokyo so far. 100% recommended!

After a long day of shopping in Akihabara, Tonkatsu Marugo is the ideal cozy spot to refuel just off the bustling main streets. This restaurant offers comforting, homemade katsu set meals ranging from 10-15—perfectly satisfying without breaking the bank. The breading on the katsu isn’t greasy, letting the flavors shine through, and the side of cabbage salad is refreshing, cleansing your palate between bites. The miso soup has a delicious, homemade quality that makes the meal even better. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, accommodating our group by moving us to a private booth once it became available without us even needing to ask. Plus, they have an English menu, making it easy to order. I’d highly recommend Tonkatsu Marugo for anyone looking to relax and enjoy great food after a busy day in Akihabara. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is absolutely on point. Instagram mayhanna_eats

This is one of my go to tonkatsu spot. It is located not too far from Akihabara area. The lines can be long, but it moves fast.

We went here 45 minutes before opening on a weekday and we were 3rd in line. A few minutes later, people started arriving already and by the time they opened at 11:30am, line was already so long. We got to sit upstairs and the servers there were very nice and attentive. They gave us the English menu, and even recommended what to order. They could speak a bit of English, which helped a lot during our visit since they also explained how to eat the meal & salad. It was my brother’s 2nd time here so he knew what to order. He got the prime cut loin while I got the prime cut fillet (no fat). We also ordered the prawns, which I personally enjoyed more. The prawns were so meaty and the perfect texture. So good!!! I also prefer the loin over the fillet but the prawns were the winner for me. Miso soup was so good (it had mushrooms) and the salad was good too. You could get 1 refill of rice & salad for free. When we finished a bit past 12, the line outside was still long. Best to go really early to get a table during the first seating.

Fantastic pork cutlet! I tried many different ones but Tonkatsu Marugo really have something special in there. The meat somehow melts in your mouth like a good wagyu beef. But be sure to come a bit earlier than the opening time otherwise be prepared for a wait of at least 30min to enter.

Get in early or be prepared to wait. Amazing fresh tonkatsu. Friendly staff and they have an English menu. I’d recommend the loin cutlet set.

We arrived at 12.15pm and there was a line. It was not massive and extended just past the lamppost on the opposite road by the shrine. It moved fairly quickly and within 25 minutes we were seated at the counter. From the point of ordering the menu also states that up to 20 minutes wait may be required as all items are prepared freshly. The bar seating was great to watch all the chefs preparing the dishes. The menu is simple with a limited offering, but that allows them to focus on perfecting the meals. We ordered a loin teishoku, prime cut fillet set meal and wild prawns. All of them were amazing and very affordable (compared to an equivalent UK meal). The loin teishoku was the standout for me. Super juicy, tender and flavourful that melted in your mouth. The prawns were thick and meaty. The fillet steak was a bit leaner and meatier but still tender. All of them had a light batter with great crunch using clean oil. The side salad offered a nice citrus and freshness to cut through the richness of the meat. Great food, good prices and a nice environment. Staff are all extremely friendly. An English menu is available. Cash only.

You had a long day in akihabara shopping for toys figurine keychains pokemon anime stuff and all that. Walked down a dark alley and saw a queue surprisingly. Google it up. And think is it that good? Its just fried cutlet heh. No smell no hint of whatsoever is inside but you just go with the crowd. Stand in the cold until youre inside. Seated in front of the kitchen and you think are these simple thing you see worth the food and wait? The 4 or 5 masters proved me wrong. Or us. This one of the best cutlet i had. The premium cut even better. Take that huge chunk into your mouth. Stuff it with cabbage and dressing. And some sauce and let your tongue do some work while you're chewing. Simply amazing. Id come back here the next time im in tokyo or akihabara
